Our aim is to develop well balanced students with the content knowledge and 21st century skills for success in their post school lives. Our curriculum encourages opportunities to develop our students’ understanding of Emirati national identity, innovative skills and practice, and social and emotional growth. English subject curriculum is aligned to the California Common Core Standards and includes the core subjects of Math, Science, English, Social Studies, and Informational Technology and Physical Education. Our Arabic subject curriculum aligns with MOE guidelines to include Arabic, Islamic Studies, Moral Education and Arabic Social Studies. Middle school learners also participate in elective courses to include STEM, French, Design Tech, Quran, Art and Music.
At LISG, we take pride in being a digital learning school in our English subjects. Middle school learners access their learning through a school provided Google Chromebook. Teachers use a variety of digital resources to facilitate learning through explicit teaching and discovery learning. In addition to extended digital platforms, students use textbooks in the MOE subjects.
Individual learning is supported by meeting the needs of all students, providing comprehensive feedback and next steps for students, and delivering student-centered interventions. Lessons are delivered by subject specialists who are led by school leaders with global experience. Weekly homeroom advisory sessions support students’ personal development with topics covering study skills, time management, emotional intelligence, college readiness, sustainable living, and healthy lifestyles.
Staff work to foster student curiosity in learning outside the regular school day. During school and after school, students have opportunities to participate in enrichment clubs that stretch and challenge them in academics, sports and arts. Middle school learners have opportunities to serve in leadership roles to include House Captains and Student Council. Students have further opportunities to participate in reading, writing, science, technology and art competitions outside of school to include: Emirates Reading Competition, Al Bin Hamal Competition, Formula Ethara Competition and First Lego LeagueRobotics Competitions.
